The Evolution of the Ntertain Events Ltd: By John Norcott, BA Hons Managing Director.
Firstly, I have worked in the entertainment industry for over 16 years but in the past 10 years, I have specialised in wedding entertainment as a Singer and DJ. Over the past few years I began to get frustrated by turning down enquiries because I was already booked and wanted to create a way of utilising these enquiries. I was also receiving a high volume of calls / emails from other entertainers asking for advice on how to gain more bookings and to promote their business. After also spending a lot of time and money attending wedding fayres to promote myself, I felt there must be a better way to showcase entertainment.
So three factors became apparent:
This is when the idea of the showcase began to evolve. I knew people wanted to see their entertainment live before booking, entertainers wanted a way of promoting themselves to brides and I wanted a way of utilising the marketing I was already doing as an entertainer myself.
So in early 2013, I set to work with some market research asking acts if they would be interested in performing on a Wedding Entertainment Showcase. I also asked couples at the wedding fayres that I was attending, “If there was a showcase where you could try entertainment live before booking, would you attend?”
The answer was a resounding yes!
I decided to contact Duane Thornborough of County Brides Magazine to ask for his thoughts on the idea and was met with a fabulous response. Duane said that in over 30 years in the wedding industry this was the first “NEW” idea he had heard. He was so excited by the idea he offered to sponsor Ntertain with a full page advert in the next County Brides Magazine.
Armed with enough positivity to boost my brain into overdrive, I set to work putting together a dream team of entertainers to offer the right variety without compromising on quality to make the showcase a success. I also looked to bring in some other wedding suppliers to add even more variety including Casino tables, Chocolate Fountain and Photo Booths. Once I had the suppliers and acts onboard I began to create the website.
In June 2013, I won the “Best Entertainment Act” award at the County brides North West Wedding Awards and thought it was the perfect time to organise the Ntertain launch party which took place at Revolution Bar, Wigan, on the 3rd July 2013 and was a huge success (see the Ntertain Blog page for photographs and details).
Since the launch we have organised 14 showcases in 10 different venues and won 'Wedding Business of the Year' 2014 and was a finalist in the Entertainment Agency of the Year 2015 & 2016 category as part of the North West County Bride Wedding Awards.
In 2015, Ntertain Events Ltd launched the Ntertain Agency and Act Development strands to the business. We are looking to build further with an aim to be the first choice company when people need high quality entertainment and suppliers for any special occcasion. So if you are planning a private party, wedding, corporate event or birthday party... let us 'Ntertain' you!
